“I want to get into AI, but where do I even start?”

If that question sounds familiar, the honest answer is Python. This five-hour course takes you from a blank computer to a properly organized Python project, using the same tools working developers rely on today. No prior coding experience is needed.

Part 1: Getting set up (first 30 minutes)

You install Python on Windows or Mac, set up VS Code with the right extensions, create your first project and workspace, and run your very first file, hello.py. A short exercise and recap makes sure everything works before moving on.

Part 2: Environments, packages and Jupyter

Many beginners get stuck here, so the course slows down to explain virtual environments (venv), pip, importing packages and a quick note on Anaconda. You also get a taste of interactive coding with Jupyter.

Part 3: Python fundamentals

Variables, comments, numbers, strings, f-strings, booleans and operators come first. Then you learn how programs make decisions and repeat tasks with if/elif/else and for loops. Lists, dictionaries, tuples and sets follow, so you can store and organize data.

Part 4: Functions, modules and real-world examples

You write your own functions, learn parameters, scope and return values, then use modules, requirements.txt, the Requests library to call an API, and Pandas with Matplotlib to work with and visualize data.

Part 5: Practical Python

Project structure, file paths, different file types, error handling with try/except and organizing code into modules. This is where it starts to feel like real software development.

Part 6: Object-oriented programming

Classes, __init__, self, attributes, methods and inheritance, plus a useful discussion of when to use classes and when plain functions are enough.

Part 7: Professional tools

Git and GitHub, cloning and creating repositories, .gitignore, environment variables and secrets with .env and python-dotenv, Ruff for linting and formatting, and uv, the modern package manager. The course ends with a complete project workflow exercise and guidance on what to learn next.

Who should watch? Absolute beginners, students, career changers and anyone who wants a solid Python foundation before moving into machine learning, data science or AI apps.

Pause, type along and do the exercises. By the end, you will have the skills and habits to start building your own AI projects. 🚀
